(Rickreall, Oregon) In an effort to help with Oregon's
education funding, Eola Hills Wine Cellars has established the "Oregon
Education Assistance Fund." The fund's mission is to "enhance the quality of
education throughout the state of Oregon by providing grants to public and
private schools."
According to Eola Hills business manager Eric Rogers,
"Eola Hills Wine Cellars believes that the education of our kids is of
paramount importance. The funding of critical programs in both public and
private schools has taken a bit of a hit in recent years because of diminishing
tax funds coupled with a sluggish economy. Eola Hills Wine Cellars wants to
help, and is establishing a fund to address the challenge."
Eola Hills will begin
donating to this fund with a portion of every case and bottle sold through
retailers in April, May and June 2003. "As one of the largest wine producers in
the state, we're excited about the amount of funds we may be able to generate,"
said Rogers. "Our goal is to ensure that the funds are distributed throughout
the state. We will allocate the distribution of funds based on sales by region
within Oregon." Eola Hills also has the support of their many distributors and
retailers and is welcoming matching fund donors.
Eola Hills Wine Cellars is
on highway 99 in Rickreall, just west of Salem. Established in 1987, Eola Hills
produces approximately 100,000 gallons of wine a year, and is the sixth largest
producer in the state among approximately 200 producers. Eola was recently
recognized by Wine & Spirits Magazine as one of the top 20 producers in the
nation of "wines of great value." See more information at
