2010 Reserve Lodi "Old Vine" Zinfandel $28.95 97914
New Vintage as of 1/29/12 - Boysenberries, raspberries, herbaceous, and black pepper in the nose. Flavors include vine berries, boysenberries and tart strawberries. Our assistant winemaker, Steve Richards, enjoys this one so much he feels it is one of the best vintages to date. It is going through a normal process called "bottle shock" that will mellow out with time. Check back soon for more tasting notes.
The vines we are using are about 76 + years old from Lodi, California! They tend to have fewer clusters of grapes with smaller berry size, yielding more intense sugars, color and concentration of flavors, producing wines that are generally better balanced with more body and structure. The agricultural history of the Mohr's and Fry's extends back to the 1850's, when Bruce Fry's great-great-grandfather on Jerry's mother's side, Cornelius Mohr, left his job on a whaling ship in the port of San Francisco and began a farming operation on a Spanish land grant near what later became Hayward (Alameda County). more...

2010 Lodi Zinfandel $15.95 98-99641
Nice bright fruit nose with a rich chewy finish. Definitely not your typical Zinfandel at all. Most Zinfandels concentrate on the fruit, not this one - it has sweet cherry on the nose, a touch of rose petal as well, then the middle wraps you in a warmth that keeps you coming back for more. Try this one today!
It is rotary-fermented to extract soft rich tannins, and was barrel-aged in older American Oak for one year. This rich Zinfandel makes a great companion for roasts, grilled game and turkey. Try it with smoked orange marinated duck with a chanterelles and sage.
2007 Vintage received:
