Description |
Dark ruby in color with flavors of black cherry, cola, nut and
oak that meld on the palate. A blend of the best barrels of wine from the
vineyards I feel produced the highest quality grapes for the year’s
harvest. Pinot Noir is the Noble red grape of Burgundy, capable of ripening in
a cooler climate, which Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot will not reliably do. It
is unpredictable and difficult both to grow and to vinify, but results in some
of the finest reds in the world. We are situated in a natural weather
shadow of the Coast Range, which shunts storms from the Pacific Ocean north to
Portland and south below Salem in the Willamette Valley, the Eola Hills
vineyards are protected from weather extremes. Yet in summer, a gorge carved by
ancient glaciers draws in maritime air to provide ideal cooling for sensitive
varietals in those warmer months. This provides us with what we feel is the
best area to produce Pinot Noir |

with a jazzy balance that underlines with delicate acidity the ripe plum and
currant fruit. A tarry note marks the finish. Drink now through 2015. 2,000

Winner! San Diego Wine Competition Wine and Roses, April 2011
Wines that make it to the championship round have attained
“platinum” status, which is a notch up from “gold” and
roughly the equivalent of “double gold” at other wine
